62.8 x 52.4 cm (24 3/4 x 20 5/8 in) sheet size
Venetian part 15/16th century and part later tabernacle frame with caryatids. The inner part of this frame is 20th century but the outer part dates from about 1500 and is very fine with carved figures on the sides with painted faces and Venetian style scrollwork along the lower edge. The top part has relief carved vine-leaves on a dark matte blue background. The cabochon jewels are gilded with an applied “dragons blood” red glaze to make them appear like rubies
