INSIGHTS INTO THE INSIDE: Nicaea: Schloss Bruck | Museum der Stadt Lienz
The Council of Nicaea, convened by Emperor Constantine exactly 1,700 years ago, summarized the fundamental Christian tenets in the Creed. Later meetings at the same venue explored the role of images and the friendliness of images—in other words, a look inward. The coexistence of the temporal and the eternal forms the theme of the exhibition, developed by Dr. Hubert Salden and supported by the Diocese of Innsbruck, full of spiritual experiences in contemporary works.
Inner messages, connectedness, and hope can be recognized in the experiences of spiritual aspects in contemporary art. The exhibition unfolds the choruses between the physical and the spiritual, those twists and turns of the "inner world of the outer world of the inner world," as Peter Handke titled one of his poems. Around thirty artists offer insights through their works, including Francesco Clemente, Gerald Domenig, Rebecca Horn, Gülsün Karamustafa, Hermann Nitsch, Kiki Smith, Susi Pop, and Andy Warhol.
