A new exhibition will be on display at the Burnaby Art Gallery this September, celebrating recent gifts and purchases to the City of Burnaby Permanent Art Collection. New Acquisitions showcases a rich tapestry of voices, featuring recent works by Shuvinai Ashoona, Chun Hua Catherine Dong, Rawan Hassan, Karice Mitchell, Kimberly Fulton Orozco, Manuel Axel Strain and Tania Willard. In addition, the exhibition includes historical works by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Garo Antreasian, Glenn Brown, Honoré Daumier, Salme Kaljur, Concordia Klar, Pedro Puerta, Ann Newdigate, Robert Rauschenberg, Parviz Tanavoli, Kunisada Utagawa and more. The display of contemporary works alongside historic works highlights artistic responses to ongoing social concerns that continue to be relevant today, shifting across both time and place.
